SWAA at Sundog 2016

Bob Lavender has once again offered to coordinate a booth for SWAA at the Sundog Art & Craft Fair held from December 2 - 4 at the Sasktel Centre (formerly the CUC - and before that SaskPlace).

Sometime in November he will be getting things organized and looking for volunteers to man the booth.

Fall art classes are starting this Saturday Sept. 10. We still have openings available. This fall we are offering the following classes:
  • Pre/K art for ages 4-6
  • Primary art for grades 1-3
  • 1 or 2 hr General art class for ages 6 to adult in Saskatoon, Warman or Martensville
  • Intro   Advanced Cartooning for ages 10   up
  • Perspective for older teens   adults (starting in Oct)
  • Figure drawing for older teens   adults (starting in Oct)

Frame Sale

  • General art camps, a.m. or full day, ages 7 and up

Forest ART will be offering a selection of four workshops running concurrently with FiddlyNess fiddle and music camp.  
Workshops include:
- Drawing & Movement with Miranda Jones
- Basic Blacksmithing with M. Craig Campbell
- Plein Air painting with Paul Trottier 
- Nature Photograohy with John Murphy.  It should be lots of fun if we can get this off the ground.

Miranda's workshop comprises of a combination of yoga and drawing activities designed to get down to the basics and tap into our deepest creative levels! ... But also to have lots of fun in a beautiful natural environment.  She has taught various versions of this workshop at The Neil Balkwell Arts Centre in Regina and through the University of Saskatchewan extension program at the now defunct Kenderdine Campus.

The 2nd semester of art classes are starting next week in Warman and Martensville.

The Drama/Art Camp is available during Easter Break!
March 28-April 1. 9:30-3:30.
Appropriate for ages 7-12 yrs.

This one week, 2-in-1 course provides a taste of both theatre and art. With half the day spent in drama, and half the day in art, the student is sure to remain engaged and entertained by the variety of activities.

Snow Carving at Winnipeg’s Voyageur Festival

Theressa Wright was one of the pumpkin carvers at the Reflections Art Festival 2015 - she carved the large pumpkin "The Turning". She and her team are currently carving in the snow in Winnipeg.

Art Battle Saskatoon - March

The next Art Battle in Saskatoon will be:
March 16 starting at 7:00 
Capital Music Club, 244 1st Ave North

Complete a painting in 20 minutes using the paints and canvas provided. So much fun! 

I (Beth Campbell) have competed in the December and the January dates. Jewel Buhay and Sheri Gordon joined me in January. Irene Stroschein will be competing in March.  Be sure to go and support her - winners are selected by audience votes.
