Bob Lavender Carving Class

February 24th and 25th the Perrons hosted a Bob Lavender carving class at their acreage. That session had students start the carving portion of a large mouth bass about to grab the leg of a frog on a lily pad. On March 24th and 25th the class will continue for the painting portion of the carving.

Felted Chickadee Working Bee was a Success

We had great fun at the Felted Chickadee Working Bee on January 6 at the Razertip Classroom in Martensville. We made 22 chickadees which will be sold at the various shows SWAA participates in throughout the year.

Coming to Saskatoon!

NatureSketch Club Spring classes are starting this April in Toronto, Victoria and Saskatoon! Register now for kids (ages 5 -12), teens and adults and journey through unique ecosystems and habitats guided by a sketch artist and naturalist. 

This program encourages children and adults to connect to natural environments in their local community using a pencil and a sketchbook.

If you know of any other events that SWAA members may be interested in please contact a member of the executive to let them know. In addition to these events we hope to plan a variety of workshops and working bees throughout the year. 

Note that not all members are able or are expected to attend everything. But this does give members a "heads-up" when they are making plans if they do want to come out. We hope to see lots of members out to participate in what looks like a very exciting year.

Bert Shasko


Garry Rector wants to let SWAA members know that Bert Shasko who was a member of SWAA for many years passed away on New Years Eve 2017 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

He was a fantastic wood carver a and dear friend to many. He is survived by his wife Romana and numerous children, he moved form Saskatoon a couple of years ago to be near his children.

Funeral is in Thunder Bay n Saturday January 6,2017.
